May I hold your hand and pray

Today is “Health Check” day at school. It is quite an amazing event as the Ministry of health comes in and weighs, measures, does oral hygine checks and vision screening.

One of the most favorite things is the gives vaccination process for the Children. Since Cyclone Gene went through, ALL the students are getting a tetanus shot. The “tough boys” were not tough any longer. So, I held hands and prayed for those children who were “afraid” for the shots. I tell you then number of boys who grabbed onto my hand was funny. Alligator tears welled up in their eyes. I prayed for them before the shots and then talked to them through the process. Did not even hurt many of them said. Glory to God.

Only thing is, boys will be boys….. after they were through the “painful part” of the shot, they thought it would be “funny” to hit each other in the arms after the shots, until they cried…. Anyone have a box of kleenex?

In the School for the students or Teachers???

Can you pray for my wife….Mr. Prasad appraoched me today and asked if I was free during lunch. On the Friday before, it was mentioned that his wife was having serious heart problems. He had left the room and Sangita (another Christian teacher) and I went to find him. We talked with him about praying for his wife. She was in the Hospital on the other side of the island so at the time it was not possible. Well, today, he came back and asked me if I would go with him to pray for his wife. Of course I will. Thank you Lord for the opportunity. A young believer named Adam goes along with me to pray.

Romella is departing for Hong Kong for further medical treatment. As I share with the two of them about why Jesus, they receive so easily. The Lord has truly prepared their hearts. After they receive, I pray for her healing. The anointing of the Lord was so strong.. Adam and I prayed for a New Heart, Neck loose (was a pinch nerve) and perfect vision! Thank you Lord! She could feel the touch of the Lord. I could feel the anointing going out. Adam could feel it and commented that it was so strong. Romella was pulling on the Lord and she was being instantly healed.

She did depart to go to Hong Kong, and what Mr. Prasad has shared is she is well. Thank you Jesus!

A roommate :)

I have a Pastors daughter staying with me for a month. She wanted to have some “time off” from house duties and seek the Lord. Delightful woman who is a joy to have around. She’s enjoying my “American” food that I cook ~ Banana Pancakes & Spaghetti. I’ve not had to cook that much because the Landlord and wife (Indian couple) and other church members have had me (us) over for dinner. They do all the cooking and it is nice. Good food experiences. I’m learning how to cook curried food the right way… Including lots of Hot Chili’s. Ummmmm Good!

Going Back to School

Today is the first day I will be going back to the primary school. I am excited to see the teachers and be around the children again.

I see Mrs. Pareti, the headmistress from last fall, and she’s excited that I’m back. When I was here last fall, I carried world maps here for the school to have for all the classrooms. At the time, I was short three maps. So, I had her the three maps I promised to bring on my return. She is amazed that I kept my word. She talks about how no one comes back and much less keeps their word. She then tells me, no matter who is there as headmaster, I’m always welcomed to come to the school. For I really care.

I’m just delighted to be back in front of the Children again… I am amazed at the number of children who are approaching me to greet me and tell me they are so glad I’m back. Lord, it is Your Love that has touched their hearts that has them remember me. I’m thankful for that.

Lunch with Family…

Lunch at Angelyn’s, she’s a Indian young lady that I met who works at the school. Her mother, Florence, sister in law, Bharti and brother, Edwin, join us. They make a feast. It is a good thing that it is a cool day so I can eat. Thank you Lord. I will actually be able to eat a bit more than I’ve been eating.

Lunch includes: Chicken Masala, (cinnamon, cloves, and chili’s), curried fish, fried fish, prawn fried rice, roti, salad ~ cucumbers, carrots and greens. All very lovely. I say Svadit (tasty).

We enjoy good conversation and then watch the wedding video of Bharti and Edwin. They were married Dec 21st, 2007. Florence was raised a Christian so she prayed for the right one for her son. Bharti came and met Florence at the school. When they talked, she knew this was the girl for her son. When Bharti saw Edwin, the Lord spoke to her too. That was it. Then they proceeded to marriage. One of the customs is to rent a “bus” to transport all the grooms family (extended and almost the entire village) to the brides “hometown” for the wedding. Angelyn asks me which one of us should be next. She told me she wants to marry a Fijian boy and that I should marry an Indian boy. I kid them about “renting a boat” to bring his family from Fiji to US for the wedding. We all laugh!!!!
